2007 Northeast Florida Highland Games

Honored Guests: Ron and Avis Munro

Clan Munro was the honored clan at the Northeast Florida Scottish Games and Festival in Jacksonville Feb. 24th 2007. To honor all of their wonderful work and years of service the festival declared it Ronald and Avis Munro Day. Ron and Avis were founding volunteers and have represented Clan Munro for the last three years at these games, and for eight years at the Jacksonville Scottish Highland Games.  2006 Gathering

PHOTOS From 2006 GATHERING:

The 2006 Gathering was held in Albany, NY at the Albany Marriott Inn, October 13-15, with about 112 attendees enjoying the event hosted by Keith and Carol Munro.  Everyone enjoyed greeting old and new friends at the Thursday evening informal reception. The excellent events included a Kilt-Making Demonstration by expert Ann Stewart, a talk by author Diane Rapaport-- "Scots for Sale," and a Scottish Dance Class on Friday.  A trip to Lake George with a presentation by archeologist & author Dr. David Starbuck on Col. George Munro and the Battle of Fort William Henry was held Saturday, with the Banquet back at the hotel in the evening. The Kirkin' o' the Tartan was held Sunday at the historic Niskayuna Reformed Church.  A wonderful time was had by all.

CLAN MUNRO USA GATHERING 2005:

                                                              SEPTEMBER 15- 18, 2005

  • Schedule of events:

                       September 15 (Thursday)------- Registration

                             September 16 (Friday)-----------Annual Meeting                                                                                   Tour of White House, Tour of James Monroe home

                             September 17 (Saturday)--------------- Options:                                                                             1) Visit James Monroe Museum and University of Mary                                                                               Washington. Also time to shop in Old Town Fredericksburg

                                                                           2) Visit World War II,  Korean War and Vietnam                                                                                     War Memorials, Shop in Old Town Alexandria.

Clan Munro Gathering 2004 was held in Pleasanton, California September 3rd to the 5th. Tom and Cathy Munro did a superb job as hosts for the gathering.

President Ralph Munro presided over the annual general meeting Friday morning. After a wonderful luncheon buffet the group enjoyed a tour of several local wineries.

 

 At 10 am Saturday busses loaded for the short ride to the Alameda County Fairgrounds to celebrate the 139th annual Scottish Gathering and Games. Clan Munro was the honored clan.

Clan Munro made a fine showing in the parade. Clan Munro stood out with a handsome crest banner made by Judy Munro Mesick.

 

Clan members young and old  enjoyed the shade and hospitality of the Munro tent.

 

Former president and founding member, Jack Monroe and wife Boo from North Carolina enjoy the games.

Many awards and presentations were made to members for prior service at the Saturday night banquet at the Crowne Plaza hotel.   Julia Munroe Woodward of Quincy Florida, although unable to attend was honored with the EAGLE award for many years of dedication to Clan Munro USA. Below, Annie-Kate Carpenter of Tampa spoke in her honor.
